About Emerging Leaders

United Way Emerging Leaders is a network of professionals committed to improving the quality of life in the Twin Cities.   Through inventive networking events, hands-on volunteer opportunities and innovative leadership trainings Emerging Leaders helps individuals develop the skills to succeed at work and in the community.

Like many of these featured artists, Emerging Leaders are defining themselves and their passions.

Tim Mahoney

From his beginnings as the front-man of a high-energy pop-rock band, Tim Mahoney has successfully transformed himself, now combining a catchy pop/rock sound, bittersweet lyrics and a comfortably raspy voice.

Romantica

Romantica plays lush, richly orchestrated pop-folk made rural by twangy pedal steel. Led by an Irishman, the music contains references to Ireland but is placed firmly in the rich musical traditions of American country and folk music.

Maeflies

The Maeflies, an alt/country-rock ensemble, deliver rich signature harmonies, hot guitars and songs about love and the chronicles of life. They know their way around any iteration of guitar, including pedal steel and mandolin.

Quietdrive

Quietdrive is an alternative rock band whose sound is, as stated by one of its members, “Rock n roll mixed with some passion and emotion and a never-ending drive to succeed…that quiet drive within us all.”

George Faber

George Faber is a veteran singer/songwriter/performer with a colorful 30-year music career.  Stereophile Magazine reviewed his work as “intensely soulful, passionate and hard-driving with strong, powerful melodies,” adding “his rough-hewn, gritty voice is the perfect vehicle for his down-to-earth songs.”

Alison Scott

Alison Scott is one of the strongest new voices to come out of the Minneapolis music scene in many years; her soulful, organic sound completely ignores the “rules of cool” that limit so much of today’s music.

John Herchert

Jon Herchert is a Minneapolis-based singer/songwriter/producer.  His sound has been described as an eclectic blend of pop, soul and alternative.  After years of touring with other artists (Jonny Lang/Keri Noble/Mango Jam) Jon has focused his talents on producing other artists in the studio and performing with his new band Dark Pony.
